Transaction in own shares

Brightview plc announces that on 23 October 2007, it purchased for
cancellation 140,036 of its ordinary shares at a price of 25.5 pence per share,
in accordance with the authority granted to it by shareholders at its Annual
General Meeting.

Following the purchase and upon cancellation of these shares, the number of
ordinary shares with voting rights in issue (excluding Treasury shares) as at
close of business on 25 October 2007 will be 43,645,720 and the number of
ordinary shares in Treasury will be 4,411,766.
